Low carb, versus Low Calorie which one should YOU choose

There is such hype about which is the better Diet, Low Carbs, or Low Calorie. I think a MIXTURE of both is the BEST. I have used the Low carb, Low Calorie diet and added no salt to that that I actually feel better than I did 8 years ago at 285 lbs taking Insulin shots once a day and suffering from High Blood Pressure. I have now lost over 100 pounds like I have said am no longer on Insulin OR high Blood Pressure medication all just by loosing the weight.

Now don't let people tell you that Low Carbs and Low calorie Diets Don't work. I know for a fact they do. I'm living proof. The Key to it is COUNTING CALORIES and knowing what foods are high in Carbs and what foods are low in carbs. Once you know this, then weight loss IS possible.

Lost another pound

Well who said dieting doesn't work, needs to try again. I have been on a low carb, low fat, no salt diet no for over 10 months and I have lost over 100 pounds and 15 inches off my waist. Of course the exercise I do is nill (I ride a stationary bike) but I can still manage to take off the weight just by counting calories and cutting down on what I eat but not cutting out WHAT I like to eat. If Want Pizza I have pizza, just not 3 slices Like I used to now maybe a slice. Ice cream the same way, instead of 2 scoops I have 1 scoop. One Thing I did stop doing was eating after 9:00 at nite. now I eat like at 6:00 wit a lite snack (If I'm Hungry) at 8:00 and that is usually a Peach or other piece of fruit....It has taken alot of Willpower, but I did it I have gone from 285 pounds down to 182 pounds in just over 10 months.

Below are the TOP TEN MYTHS and FACTS about Dieting.

MYTH # 1 IF I CUT DOWN MY CALORIES TO NEXT TO NOTHING, I'LL LOSE WEIGHT FASTER.

FACT: When you take your caloric intake down too low, you are actually sending your body into "starvation mode." Your body wants to maintain your weight when it "thinks" you are starving; therefore, your metabolism will actually slow down, causing you to want to eat MORE and you may not lose weight.

MYTH # 2 LOOSING WIEGHT ALL HAS TO DO WITH WILLPOWER.

FACT: Yes, willpower may be a factor when it comes to how we respond to cravings, but a lot more factors can impact our weight, including genetics, culture, home environment, activity level and health issues. The good news is eating a healthy diet and exercising can help you overcome these influences.

MYTH # 3 DRINKING WATER WILL HELP ME LOOSE WEIGHT.

FACT: Drinking water in and of itself will not lead to weight loss. Of course, water is key to a healthy lifestyle and drinking enough has many benefits, but when people lose weight due to drinking water, it's most likely because they're substituting it for high-calorie juices and sodas.

MYTH # 4 I CAN'T HAVE DAIRY ON A HEALTHY DIET.

FACT: With non- and low-fat varieties of most dairy products on the market, working dairy into your diet is a definite "do." Women in particular need the calcium dairy products provide, not to mention the fact that research has shown eating enough calcium can actually give our weight loss efforts a boost.

MYTH #5 FATTY FOODS ARE BAD.

FACT: Everybody needs to include some fat in their diet. Fat makes dishes more satisfying and palatable. Some fats are even good for you, like omega-3 fatty acids, which are found predominantly in fish and shellfish, and monounsaturated fat like that in olive oil.

MYTH # 6 I SHOULD STOP EATING MY FAVORITE FOODS.

FACT: By treating yourself to your old favorites now and again, you'll stay motivated and you'll be less likely to give in to a binge. (Just make sure you get back on track after your treat.) Moderation is the key to successful, long-term weight loss.

MYTH # 7 I SHOULD NOT EAT LATE AT NIGHT.

FACT: It doesn't really matter when you eat, only how many calories you eat and burn in a day. Whether you're eating in the morning or at midnight, your body turns any extra calories into fat over the course of time. In fact, eating a light snack -- like cheese and crackers -- before bed may help you sleep better.

MYTH #8 I SHOULD NOT SNACK BETWEEN MEALS

FACT: On the contrary, eating a small, healthful snack between meals will help keep your blood sugar stable and your metabolism going strong. You'll also avoid getting too hungry so you don't overeat at your next meal.

MYTH #9 SKIPPING A MEAL IS OK

FACT: skipping A meal may actually cause you to gain weight! Your metabolism plummets and you get overly-hungry when go too long without eating. Plus, you may not be reaching your daily calorie requirements which will backfire on you (Remember, eating too few calories can cause weight loss to stall). That's why eating the meal we skip most, breakfast, can actually help us lose weigh

MYTH #10 DIETING DOESN'T WORK.

FACT: Dieting DOES work if done Properly. You can not loose wieght by dieting alone. You need to EXCERISE. Exercise increases you metabolism therefore burning MORE calories, therefore burning more fat resulting in weight loss.


The best way to loose weigh is NOT by doing the Crash Diet or the GrapeFruit Diet or any other fad diet. THEY DON'T WORK. While Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and the other weight loss programs have some wonderful programs, you DO NOT need to pay monthly dues and buy THEIR food. You can loose weight on your own in your own time and save ALLOT of money in the process. I know, I've lost almost 100 pounds and 15 inches off my waist line in the last 10 months JUST by dieting and exercise and a little help from the information at the bottom of this page.
